Agreement to Official Rules

Participation in the Hermann Law Group, PLLC’s Essay Scholarship Contest (the “Contest”) constitutes entrant’s full and unconditional agreement to and acceptance of these Official Rules and the decisions of Hermann Law Group, PLLC (the “Sponsor”) and the Contest administrator, James Publishing, 3505 Cadillac Avenue, Suite P-101, Costa Mesa, CA 92626 (“Administrator”), which are final and binding. Winning a prize is dependent upon completing all the stipulations set forth in these rules. This Contest is not sponsored, endorsed, or managed by Facebook or YouTube, nor are Facebook or YouTube associated with the Contest in any way. Any questions, comments, or complaints regarding this Contest must be addressed to the Sponsor.  Any information provided will only be used for conducting the Contest and in accordance with Sponsor’s privacy policy as detailed within these rules.

Eligibility

The Contest is only open to entrants who are currently enrolled in high school or college and plan to pursue any type of post-secondary degree.  Prior essay scholarship winners are not eligible, although previous entrants who did not win may participate again with new submissions.  Void where restricted or prohibited by law.  Anyone who is affiliated with the Sponsor as an employee, contract or regular, and their respective family members, is not eligible to enter.

How to Enter

Entrants will write an essay describing their disability and how they have worked to succeed despite the disability, and then submit the essay to info@nymetrodisability.com.  Essays should be 1,000 to 1,500 words in length.

Parental Release

If entrant is under the age of 18, Sponsor must receive permission from a parent or legal guardian before entrant can enter the Contest.  If the entrant who is under 18 wants to enter the Contest, he or she must have their parent or legal guardian create a release form (including entrant’s name, parent or legal guardian’s name, address, date, and signature) and then must deliver that release form as a scanned document to the Sponsor’s email in order to be eligible.

Essay Requirements

Any essay submissions must be the original work of the entrant and never before posted elsewhere.  Material included under the Fair Use Exception rule, like news reports, is acceptable to use in essays.  However, the Sponsor does reserve the right to disqualify any submissions that are considered to utilize borrowed content excessively. Essay content must be in English.

Essay Screening

If Sponsor considers an essay submission to not adhere to the Official Rules, then that essay will not be eligible to win the Contest.  However, if Sponsor regards an essay submission as compliant, then that essay will be qualified to participate in the Contest.

Odds

The odds of winning the Contest will depend upon the amount of eligible entries which are received.  The winner will be selected based upon the quality of their submission, not at random.

Judging

All submissions are due by August 15, 2016, and judging will begin on August 16, 2016.  By entering into the Contest, entrants agree that the decisions concerning the winner shall be final and binding.

Prizes

The winner of the Contest will receive a $1,000 scholarship towards any tuition, fees, books, and supply expenses at any post-secondary educational program or institution (including universities, community colleges, or vocational schools) that is intended to grant a degree or diploma.  The post-secondary educational institution must be located within the United States of America, and the winner must be accepted to attend.

Sponsor cannot guarantee that the scholarship will be approved by the winner’s post-secondary educational institution, so the winner understands that they may be required to select one or more alternative post-secondary institutions to accept the scholarship.  If the winner is already enrolled, the scholarship shall be paid directly to the institution in order to cover costs for winner’s tuition, fees, books, and supply expenses.  In which case that the winner is still under the age of 18, the scholarship shall not be awarded until the winner has enrolled at a post-secondary educational institution.

Warranty

Participation in the Contest means that the entrant guarantees all content within the essay submission is entrant’s original work and does not violate any copyright, trademark, or intellectual property rights of a third party.

Use Rights

By entering the Contest, the entrant grants the Sponsor permission to copy, reproduce, and use the essay submission (and any content contained within) in all promotional and publishing aspects.

Limitations on Liability

Entering into the contest signifies that the entrant agrees to indemnify and hold harmless all coordinators of the Contest (including employees of the Sponsor, the Administrator, Facebook, YouTube, and anyone else involved in the organization of the Contest) from any legal claim that results from taking part in the Contest.  Additionally, entrant agrees to release and waive any liability whatsoever for any claims, costs, injuries, losses, and damages that are incurred from involvement in the Contest.
