Gabriel J. Hermann, a founding partner of Insler & Hermann, LLP, began practicing Disability Law in 1997, and has successfully represented thousands of disabled claimants since that time. After earning degrees from Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, and the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law of Yeshiva University, New York, Gabe began his legal career as a prosecutor at the Brooklyn Family Court Division of the New York Corporation Counsel’s Office. After two years with a large, national disability law firm, in 1999 he began working with Lew Insler, who was already a well known Disability Law attorney in Westchester. Gabe and Lew became partners in 2003, forming Insler and Hermann, LLP.
Gabe lectures often to both legal groups and disability-related organizations, as well as to the general public. He has appeared twice on CNNfn, once when he was interviewed for a “Smart Assets” segment about Disability claims, and again as a guest on “The Flip Side,” providing answers to questions about disability from a national audience.
Gabe is admitted to practice in New York and New Jersey, and in the Federal District Courts for the Southern Districts of New York and the District of New Jersey. President of the New York Social Security Bar Association (NYSSBA), Gabe is also a member of the American Bar Association, New York State Bar Association, and the Bergen County Bar Association. In addition, he is a Sustaining Member of the National Association of Social Security Claimants Representatives (NOSSCR).
In order to stay abreast of the law, Gabe regularly attends the NOSSCR conferences held twice a year and has attended a number of the Annual Advanced Forums on Litigating Disability Insurance Claims.
In addition to Social Security Disability claims, Gabe handles Long Term Disability claims, both under ERISA and involving privately purchased long-term disability policies. He is also one of just a handful of attorneys who represent clients seeking benefits from the Railroad Retirement Board. Gabe meets with clients in our Elmsford and Hackensack offices.
Gabe enjoys skiing, swimming, biking, and classic movies. He and his wife Miriam have two children and live in Bergen County, New Jersey.
